What I see working in health care.
The great thing about health care today is that there are endless options. (Had this been earlier years, a lot of us would be burned for witch craft and die from disease and simple scratches…) So where then to begin? Well by a process of elimination, you will find your answer. The biggest factors will be accessibility, budget, location, and services included.
So far, our government systems are over populated and underfunded, however many can’t afford the private care they require; this begins the awkward dance of picking and choosing your battles.
The glimmer of hope lays in finding the right people for your team. If you wouldn’t trust them to take care of you at your most vulnerable don’t let them near your family, and when you find the right fit, hold on to them and get to know your health care workers, it will only strengthen the system you are creating together.
So then where to start?
Get clear on specifics.
Make a checklist of everything, and I mean everything and budget mindfully.
Prepare to have some difficult conversations.
Keep putting each other in one another’s shoes. Planning for the future can be challenging, but it's often necessary for peace of mind and to ensure loved ones are cared for. Change is an inherent part of life, and acknowledging its impact is crucial for navigating life's complexities. As we age, face illness, or experience loss, it's essential to consider the various options available for ongoing care and support.
Work together when accepting change and a shift in roles, communication is key. Finding the right next steps but by asking the right questions and having a game plan ready will be a great way to achieve your goals.
Start sooner than later. Reality waits for no one.
